What is Bowen Therapy?
Developed by the late Thomas Bowen (from Geelong, Australia) Bowen Therapy, also known as Bowen technique, is the use of small, measured movements over the skin, which triggers the body to heal itself.
Our Nervous system and the benefits of Bowen Therapy.
Our bodies are made of multiple systems which enable it to function. One of these systems is the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) which controls over 80% of the body’s processes.
In today’s world we are under constant stress and pressure, so our ANS is over stimulated. We are therefore often in continuous fight and flight mode.
The techniques used in Bowen Therapy restores balance to the ANS shifting it into its rest, relax and repair mode. This enables the body to recognise what it needs to do for healing to occur.
Bowen Therapy techniques focus on the whole body rather than just what’s painful or not functioning at optimal level.
As everything in our body is connected,
By releasing one part of your body, you can bring change to another.
